"Auto Makers Report Mixed Q1 Sales Performance"

Major automakers including General Motors, Tesla, BYD, Rivian, Hyundai, Kia, Honda, and Toyota reported their sales for the first quarter of 2024. General Motors delivered 594,233 vehicles in the U.S., with a decline in all-electric vehicle sales. Tesla fell short of Wall Street's expectations, delivering 386,810 electric vehicles. BYD's sales fell 43% compared to the previous quarter, but were up 14% year-over-year. Rivian delivered 13,588 electric vehicles and produced 13,980 units, while Hyundai and Genesis reported record first-quarter sales. Kia saw a decline in overall sales but reported strong growth in electric vehicle sales. Honda's sales increased by 17.3%, with the Honda brand seeing a rise of almost 30%. Toyota delivered 565,098 vehicles in the U.S., with strong interest in electric and hybrid offerings across both its namesake and Lexus brands.
