Nikola Recalls 209 Electric Trucks After Battery Investigation Results

Nikola Corporation has announced the preliminary results of its battery pack investigations and is voluntarily recalling approximately 209 Class 8 battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) due to a coolant leak inside a single battery pack, which was found to be the probable cause of a previous truck fire. The company is placing a temporary hold on new BEV sales until a resolution is in place. The hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) currently in production is unaffected. Nikola encourages customers and dealers to take immediate actions for optimal performance and safety. Only 0.07% of battery packs have experienced a thermal event. Efforts are underway to provide a field remedy in the coming weeks.
