Pune-built Kylaq Could Redefine Europe’s Budget-Car Benchmark

Skoda’s Kylaq, an India-built subcompact SUV priced around €6.8k ($7.9k) and powered by a 1.0L turbo on VW Group’s MQB-A0 platform, could be exported to Europe as one of the continent’s cheapest new cars, potentially undercutting the Fabia but requiring European homologation and emissions balancing through stronger EV sales. The model has already sold over 50,000 in India, boosting VW Group India’s 2025 sales to about 70,600, while Europe remains focused on popular EVs like the Elroq and Enyaq.
