Tech Leaders Pledge to Stay in Europe Despite Regulations and Threats

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has confirmed that the company has no plans to leave Europe, despite previous comments suggesting otherwise. Altman had reportedly said that OpenAI could consider leaving the bloc if the EU's upcoming legislation on artificial intelligence is too stringent. The EU's Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton had criticized Altman's original comments. Altman has been touring Europe this week and visited countries including the United Kingdom, France and Germany. French officials hope Altman will consider setting up shop there.
