Tesla's Shanghai Megapack factory draws political scrutiny.

The announcement of Tesla's Megapack factory in Shanghai has raised concerns from US politicians about the company's reliance on China. Republican Chair of the House of Representatives Select Committee on China’s Communist Party, Mike Gallagher, expressed concerns about Tesla's dependence on tax breaks and access to the Chinese market. Tesla will start building the factory in Q3 2023 and could build up to 10,000 units every year. The Megapack is a large-scale energy storage battery ideal for commercial applications. Democratic Senator Mark Warner has also criticized Tesla for neglecting human rights issues in China.
