US Lawmakers Demand Shein Supply Chain Audit Over Forced Labor Concerns Ahead of IPO

A bipartisan group of 22 US House of Representatives members has asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to require that Chinese fast-fashion giant Shein certify that any of its products made in China do not use Uyghur forced labor. The United States has banned all imports from the Xinjiang region over concerns of the use of forced labor. Shein denies using forced labor and has no suppliers in the Xinjiang region. The company's mobile app is currently the fourth-most downloaded in the United States, and it is reportedly preparing an IPO later this year.
