The European Commission has launched non-compliance investigations into Apple, Google, and Meta regarding their adherence to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) antitrust rules. The investigations will focus on issues such as anti-steering rules in app stores, self-preferencing of services, fee structures, and ad targeting models. If found to be in violation, the companies could face heavy fines of up to 10 percent of their annual global revenue. The EU is also scrutinizing Amazon's self-preferencing practices and has given Meta an additional six months to make Messenger interoperable with other messaging services. The investigations come after criticism of how Apple and Meta are complying with the DMA, with concerns raised about their fee structures and ad targeting models.
