Fast-food Employees Arrested for Stealing Money to Bail Out Inmates

Several employees from a Hardee's restaurant in Michigan City, Indiana, are under investigation for allegedly using stolen money from customers to bail out inmates from jail. The scheme involved taking photos of customers' debit and credit cards used in the drive-thru and fraudulently using them to place money into inmates' accounts with low bails. The inmates would then bond out of jail, withdraw the remaining money from an ATM using a jail-issued debit card, and leave with the extra funds. A total of $14,700 was fraudulently charged, and ten suspects are facing felony charges, including fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud. One suspect is still at large, and authorities are seeking information on their whereabouts.
