Hackers claim to have breached Western Digital's internal systems and stolen 10 terabytes of data, demanding an eight-figure ransom. The company disclosed the network security incident on April 2 and is currently investigating with the assistance of outside security and forensic experts. The hackers have attempted to contact the company's leadership via phone calls and personal email addresses since the email system was shut down amid the incident. It is unclear whether customer data was stolen or what the nature of that data was. Western Digital declined to provide a comment.
