The Price of Happiness: Americans' Perspective on Money

A new poll from financial services firm Empower reveals that 6 in 10 Americans believe money can buy happiness, but it comes at a high price. Respondents stated that they would need an annual income of approximately $284,000 and a net worth of $1.2 million to achieve happiness. Millennials, who have faced financial challenges such as the Great Recession and high housing costs, expressed the need for even higher incomes. The study also found that 7 in 10 Americans believe that having more money would solve most of their problems. However, research on the topic remains divided, with some suggesting that money can boost happiness up to a certain point, while others argue that it has little impact beyond a certain income threshold.
