eBay Faces Lawsuit for Selling Harmful and Polluting Products

The US Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against eBay, accusing the online auction site of selling hundreds of thousands of harmful and polluting products. The complaint alleges that eBay sold aftermarket defeat devices that illegally bypass motor vehicle emission controls, as well as unregistered, misbranded, and restricted-use pesticide products. The company is also accused of selling products containing methylene chloride, which is banned in the US. The Justice Department and the Environmental Protection Agency are seeking to block eBay from selling such products that endanger public health and harm the environment. eBay claims to have already been working to block the sale of dangerous products and intends to vigorously defend itself.
