CDC and FDA issue warnings over dangerous eye products and drops.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned against using recalled eye products linked to an outbreak of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a drug-resistant infection that has caused three deaths and the removal of four eyeballs. The recalled products are EzriCare Artificial Tears, Delsam Pharma Artificial Tears, and Delsam Pharma Artificial Eye Ointment, all imported from India-based Global Pharma Healthcare Private Ltd. The FDA has uncovered about a dozen problems with how Global Pharma Healthcare made and tested its eyedrops during an inspection from late February through early March, and the company lacked measures to assure sterility at its factory in India.
