Cyclospora Outbreak Reaches 15 States, CDC Confirms Expansion

The CDC has expanded the cyclosporiasis outbreak to 15 states (adding Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire and North Carolina), with 6,707 lab-confirmed cases and about 11,500 suspected cases across 45 states as of July 28. Michigan remains hardest hit with 11,234 outbreak-linked cases and two deaths. The FDA is investigating six outbreaks linked to iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico, prompting recalls in multiple states and a public advisory not to eat recalled lettuce.
