Deadly Bacteria Outbreak Linked to Recalled Eyedrops

Eyedrops recalled by the FDA due to potential bacterial contamination have been linked to an outbreak of a drug-resistant bacteria strain that has caused three deaths and eight cases of vision loss. The recalled products, manufactured by Global Pharma Healthcare, include EzriCare and Delsam Pharma’s Artificial Tears. Consumers with eyedrops that are not under recall should feel safe continuing to use their products, but should take precautions such as not letting the bottle tip touch the eye, checking the label for recalls, and seeking immediate care for red eyes or decreased vision.
