FDA Recalls At-Home COVID-19 Tests Over Bacteria Concerns

The FDA has advised Americans not to use the "Pilot COVID-19 At-Home Tests" by SD Biosensor due to potentially harmful bacteria found in the liquid inside the kit. The affected tests can be identified by the lot number on the outer packaging and should be discarded in the trash. Exposure to the liquid in the tube through misuse or spillage could potentially lead to serious illness. The at-home test kits were sold over-the-counter and distributed to CVS stores and online through Amazon, with over 500,000 kits subject to the recall. The FDA is currently reviewing the recall and working with SD Biosensor to address the reason for bacterial contamination.
