Hepatitis A Outbreak Linked to Frozen Fruit Sold at Major Retailers

The FDA and CDC are investigating an outbreak of Hepatitis A linked to frozen organic strawberries sold at Costco and Trader Joe's. The strawberries were imported from Mexico in 2022 and sold under multiple brand labels. The supplier of the strawberries has farms in Baja California, and the strain of hepatitis A is genetically identical to the one that caused an outbreak in May 2022. California Splendor and Scenic Fruit Company have voluntarily recalled their products. Symptoms of hepatitis A include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and jaundice.
