Hepatitis A Outbreak Linked to Frozen Strawberries Sold at Costco, Trader Joe's and Other Stores
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has linked five hepatitis A outbreaks in Washington state to frozen organic strawberries. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recalled Scenic Fruit and California Splendor organic strawberries. The recalled strawberries were supplied to Costco, Aldi, KeHE, Vital Choice Seafood, and PCC Community Markets in specific states, and to Trader Joe’s nationwide. Hepatitis A illnesses linked to these strawberries started in Washington around November 24, 2022, to December 27, 2022. Two people have been hospitalized and no deaths have been reported.
