Neuralink to implant first brain chip in humans this year, says Elon Musk.

Elon Musk's brain-chip start-up Neuralink plans to implant its first human trial patient, a tetraplegic or paraplegic, later this year. The company received FDA clearance for its first-in-human clinical trial last month, but still faces federal scrutiny over its handling of animal experiments. If Neuralink can prove its device is safe in humans, it would still take several years to secure commercial use clearance. The start-up was valued at around $5 billion based on privately executed stock trades.
