Recalled Eye Drops Linked to Deadly Bacterial Infections

Federal health investigators are warning about an outbreak of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a rare strain of bacteria that is increasingly being traced back to eye drops. Nearly 70 patients in 16 different states have suffered drug-resistant infections and multiple symptoms, with three deaths linked back to exposure through eye drops specifically. Two distinct recalls have been linked to potential bacterial contamination, with EzriCare Artificial Tears being most commonly cited in the bulk of reported infections thus far. The CDC is still actively investigating the source of bacterial contamination, and there's a possibility that more recalls may take place in the future.
