A nationwide outbreak of drug-resistant bacteria linked to recalled eye drops has infected 68 people in 16 states, resulting in three deaths and eight cases of vision loss, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A fire captain in Florida lost sight in his left eye after using the contaminated eye drops, and is now suing for negligence. Symptoms of the infection include pain, discharge, redness, light sensitivity, and blurry vision. The CDC advises anyone experiencing these symptoms to see their eye care provider immediately.
