Neuralink Receives FDA Approval for Human Brain Implant Trials

Elon Musk's Neuralink has received FDA clearance to begin in-human clinical trials for its brain implant, which uses small electrodes implanted into the brain to record the electrical activity of neurons and connect brain function with an outboard electronic device. The implant has the potential to aid those with severe disabilities, and experts believe it could someday help treat maladies like blindness and mental illness. Neuralink has attracted over $360 million in investment since its launch in 2016.
