UAW Strike Expands as Chicago Ford Workers Join Picket Line, Amid Concerns of Booming Anti-Union Electric Vehicle Jobs

The United Auto Workers (UAW) may expand their strike to include workers at the Ford Chicago plant if there is no progress in contract negotiations. Currently, over 12,000 workers are on strike at plants in Missouri, Ohio, and Michigan, and approximately 5,500 local employees in Chicago could join them. The workers are demanding a 40% pay increase, cost of living adjustments, equal hourly pay for all UAW employees, and pensions for all workers. Ford's CEO stated that complying with these demands would lead the company to bankruptcy, while all three major auto companies have offered a 20% pay increase.
