Blue Origin's BE-4 Rocket Engine Explosion Sparks Investigation and Industry Concern

Blue Origin's BE-4 rocket engine, which powers the New Glenn rocket and United Launch Alliance's Vulcan Centaur, exploded during a test at the company's West Texas facility on June 30. The engine was being prepared for the second launch of Vulcan Centaur. No personnel were injured, and the cause of the explosion is currently being assessed. ULA, the joint venture of Boeing and Lockheed Martin, does not view the incident as a major problem, as the BE-4 engine has already been qualified for flight. Both Blue Origin and ULA have experienced setbacks in their respective rocket programs.
