Bezos‑backed Prometheus AI nears $38B valuation in industrial‑AI funding blitz

Bezos’s AI lab, Project Prometheus, is close to a $38 billion valuation after a funding round that began with about $6.2 billion raised in November and has drawn demand from investors including JPMorgan Chase and BlackRock. The San Francisco startup, Bezos’s first operational venture since stepping down as Amazon’s CEO in 2021, is building physics‑aware AI for industrial applications to speed up engineering and manufacturing. It is also raising a separate investment holding company to acquire stakes in businesses it expects will be disrupted by its technology, with data from portfolio companies to train Prometheus’s AI. The round is expected to close soon as the firm expands its staff, including hires from OpenAI and other AI teams.
