Clemson Study Finds Chinese Bots Barely Reached US Data Center Debate

A Clemson University researcher says a 200,000-strong Chinese bot farm on X largely failed to influence the US AI/data-center debate, with at least 59 bots showing zero engagement and being suspended before gaining followers. Only a small number of posts under the ‘capacityauction’ hashtag were made (about 90 in January) and did not reach real users, leaving the broader opposition to data centers largely unshifted despite claims of a coordinated campaign.
