The FBI has issued a warning about a cyberattack called "Salt Typhoon," where Chinese hackers have allegedly accessed private communications by hacking major phone companies like AT&T and Verizon. To protect against this, users are advised to use encrypted messaging apps like Signal or WhatsApp, which offer end-to-end encryption. While iMessage and Google Messages are secure, texts between iPhone and Android phones are vulnerable due to reliance on Rich Communication Services (RCS). The FBI and CISA recommend using encrypted communication methods to safeguard privacy.
