Google Reaches Tentative Settlement with US States over Play Store Case

Google has reached a tentative settlement with US states, including New York, California, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah, in an antitrust lawsuit over its alleged monopolistic practices in the Google Play Store. The lawsuit accused Google of inflating prices for paid apps and in-app purchases and imposing technical barriers for third-party app developers. The settlement agreement, subject to court approval, is yet to be finalized, and more details will be shared publicly in the next 30 days. Google is also facing other antitrust challenges, including a trial over the design of its search page and a lawsuit from the Biden administration seeking to break up its ad tech business.
