Heart Aerospace's X1 flies for $5, charting path to hybrid-electric ES-30

Heart Aerospace's X1 completed a near-30-minute test flight at Plattsburgh using about $5 of electricity, a milestone in battery-electric propulsion that informs development of the ES-30, a 30-seat hybrid-electric regional airliner capable of about 125 miles all-electric and 500 miles in hybrid mode; major airlines including United, Air Canada and Mesa have shown interest, with flight testing planned for 2028 and certification targeted for 2031, while today’s all-electric range remains typically 100–200 miles.
