Italy Implements Immediate Ban on ChatGPT Over Privacy Concerns

Italy's deputy prime minister, Matteo Salvini, criticized the country's Data Protection Authority for temporarily banning Microsoft-backed OpenAI's chatbot, ChatGPT, over privacy concerns and for failing to verify users' ages. Salvini called the move "disproportionate" and "hypocritical," and said it could harm national business and innovation. OpenAI said it actively works to reduce the use of personal data in training its AI systems and hopes to educate the Italian data agency on how its systems are built and used.
