Italy Investigates and Bans ChatGPT Over Privacy Violations

Italy has become the first Western country to ban and investigate OpenAI's advanced chatbot, ChatGPT, due to privacy concerns. The Italian data-protection authority cited a data breach involving user conversations and payment information, as well as the app's potential harm to minors. The ban shows the importance of regulatory compliance for companies operating in Europe, and consumer advocacy group BEUC has called for greater public scrutiny and control over AI systems. ChatGPT is already blocked in several other countries, including China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia.
