OceanGate's Safety Concerns: A History of Lawsuits and Whistleblowers.

The director of marine operations at OceanGate, David Lochridge, was fired in 2018 after raising concerns about safety issues with the company's submersible, including flaws in the carbon fiber hull and the use of hazardous flammable materials. Lochridge recommended non-destructive testing of the hull and certification by a classification agency, but was told these were impossible. He was fired after presenting his report to senior management. The submersible, which was on an expedition to the Titanic, went missing on Sunday with OceanGate's founder and CEO, Stockton Rush, and others on board.
