Japan is considering government adoption of AI technology, including OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot, if privacy and cybersecurity concerns are addressed. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and expressed interest in opening an office in Japan to improve models for Japanese language and culture. Japan will continue evaluating the possibility of introducing AI to reduce government workers' workload after assessing how to respond to concerns such as data breaches.
