The Urgent Threat of AI to Humanity: Experts Warn of Extinction

Former Google executive Mo Gawdat has warned that AI is a bigger emergency than climate change and suggested taxing AI companies at 98% to slow them down and pay for those who will be disrupted by the technology. Gawdat believes that the rapid development of AI will result in mass job losses and that governments need to step in to regulate the industry. This comes after an open letter in March called for a six-month pause on the development of AI more powerful than OpenAI's GPT-4, signed by AI experts and leading figures in the industry including Elon Musk and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
