New Jersey to swap E-ZPass transponders for battery-free digital stickers
TL;DR
New Jersey's E-ZPass program will move from windshield-mounted transponders to digital sticker tags embedded with chips; the switch is in early planning with no firm date, though officials have suggested stickers could begin appearing by the end of 2026. The new stickers are battery-free, which could save millions by avoiding battery replacements required for current transponders.
