New Hampshire tolls set to rise to $4 for cars in 2027 to fund roads
Lawmakers in New Hampshire overrode Gov. Ayotte’s veto to pass a 10-year transportation plan that increases tolls starting Jan. 1, 2027. The Hampton toll plaza will see the standard passenger-vehicle rate jump from $2 to $4; NH E-ZPass users on funded accounts will pay the discounted rate, while cash payers and others not on NH E-ZPass will face the higher rate. Supporters say higher tolls fund turnpike projects and shift costs onto out-of-state drivers; Ayotte warns it’s a tax increase and could affect affordability and tourism.
