Amazon to Close Freevee, Integrate Content with Prime Video
TL;DR
Amazon is shutting down its free streaming service Freevee, integrating its content into Prime Video, as insiders speculate about potential layoffs in its entertainment division. Freevee struggled with identity and financial losses, competing with Prime Video for resources. While no Freevee employees were laid off, concerns remain about possible job cuts at MGM Studios, as Amazon seeks to reduce costs. The phaseout will allow non-Prime members to access select free content on Prime Video, aiming to attract new subscribers.
