Kavinsky, Nightcall Star, Dies in Paris at 50

French DJ Kavinsky (real name Vincent Belorgey) has died at his Paris home at age 50. The artist behind the 2010 hit Nightcall, which soundtracked Drive’s opening and featured at the Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony, was a key figure in the French Touch scene. Tributes poured in from President Emmanuel Macron and Culture Minister Catherine Pégard. Paris prosecutors opened an investigation into the death, with authorities noting headaches prior to death and a suspected stroke; no suspicious items were found at the scene. Kavinsky helped shape French electronic music alongside Daft Punk, Justice and Sebastian.
