Max Cady Reimagined: Cape Fear's Villain Across Film and a New Apple TV Series
TL;DR
BBC Culture traces Max Cady's evolution from the novel's vengeful predator through the 1962 Cape Fear and Scorsese's 1991 remake to a new Apple TV series starring Javier Bardem, arguing he remains an enduring anti-establishment threat to family and the legal order, with the latest version adding backstory and moral ambiguity around guilt, class and justice.
