Barker felt an “awful feeling” about the small plane and, despite his manager's push to perform, boarded the flight; only he and DJ AM survived as others died. He spent 11 weeks in the hospital after severe burns and avoided flying for 13 years, noting he would handle similar fears differently today. Alabama had also referenced the crash in his 2015 memoir, Can I Say, predicting the roof would come off.
