TL;DR

Ken Russell’s 1971 shocker The Devils will be released in an uncut NC-17 cut with a new 4K restoration for a one-week theatrical run starting October 14, 2026, after Warner Bros. long held back the private 2004 director’s cut; the film’s controversial depictions of blasphemy and sexual content, based on Aldous Huxley’s The Devils of Loudun, are being presented as Russell’s definitive vision, reigniting debates about censorship and artistic intent.
