TL;DR

"American Fiction" has won the People's Choice Award at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival. The film, directed by Cord Jefferson and starring Jeffrey Wright, is a satirical take on the publishing industry's treatment of serious works by Black writers. The award is often considered a harbinger for the Best Picture Oscar, with past winners including "Nomadland" and "Green Book." "American Fiction" is scheduled for release in November.
