Hello Kitty Movie Finds Directors for 2028 Release

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation have tapped David Derrick Jr. and John Aoshima to direct Hello Kitty, with Beau Flynn producing and Ramsay Naito joining FlynnPictureCo. The film marks Hello Kitty’s Hollywood theatrical debut and will be distributed globally by Warner Bros. Pictures on July 21, 2028. The screenplay is by Jeff Chan with earlier drafts from Dana Fox, Katie Dippold, Adam Sztykiel, Jenny Jaffe, Lindsey Beer and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson (from a treatment by Robert Ben Garant & Thomas Lennon); Derrick Jr. previously worked on Moana 2 and Aoshima is known for Ultraman: Rising, with both directors previously under overall deals with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation.
