Ink Opens, Bertolucci Doc Closes: Venice 2026 Lineup Unveiled

Deadline reveals the Venice Film Festival 2026 lineup (Sept. 2–12): opening film Ink by Danny Boyle and closing title Dio Ride by Giovanni Veronesi; in-competition titles include Casey Affleck’s directorial debut Company, Lee Chang-dong’s Possible Love, Hirokazu Koreeda’s Look Back, Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine, and Nanni Moretti’s Succederà Questa Notte. Out of Competition features Paul Schrader’s The Basics of Philosophy, Luca Guadagnino’s Bernardo Bertolucci documentary Joie De Vivre, Wim Wenders’ Peter Zumthor doc, and Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger; Laura Poitras presents They’re Here. Maggie Gyllenhaal heads the Competition jury, and George Clooney and Ellen Burstyn receive the Golden Lion lifetime achievement award.
