TL;DR

Owen Wilson stars as the host of a Burlington, Vermont-based PBS instructional art show in the new comedy film "Paint." Wilson's character, Carl Nargle, is loosely inspired by Bob Ross, complete with a permed hair and denim-on-denim wardrobe. The film follows Carl's personal story, shaped by the director's fascination with celebrities. "Paint" opens on over 800 screens this week and also stars Michaela Watkins, Ciara Renée, Stephen Root, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Lucy Freyer, Lusia Strus, and Michael Pemberton.
