The Enduring Impact of John Wick on Action Films
TL;DR
The John Wick franchise, which began with a hitman avenging his dog's death, has transformed into a successful and unique action movie franchise that combines influences from Sergio Leone, South Korean cinema, and the Wachowskis. The franchise offers a more adult-friendly alternative to superhero movies and has built a world around action as a storytelling tool. With the release of John Wick: Chapter 4, the franchise continues to expand with spinoff movies and a TV series.
