Trachtenberg Brings Freddy the 13th to Life in 2028 Animated Family-Horror

Paramount Animation is developing an untitled animated family-horror-comedy based on Yehudi Mercado’s Freddy the 13th, directed by Dan Trachtenberg with Mercado co-directing, for a Oct. 13, 2028 release. The story follows a family vacation that goes awry when Uncle Freddy kills the Boogeyman and inherits his powers, a project unveiled at Annecy that aims for wholesome PG‑rated scares. Trachtenberg’s animation experience and Paramount deal are highlighted as part of the film’s background.
