Amy Schumer Speaks Out Against Ozempic Use Among Celebrities

Amy Schumer revealed that she stopped taking Ozempic, an FDA-approved medication for type 2 diabetes, for weight loss due to its side effects. She also called out celebrities who have been "lying" about taking the once-weekly antidiabetic injection for weight loss and urged them to be honest with their fans. Schumer previously underwent liposuction for weight loss and has been open about it. Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro are brand names for semaglutide, which work by mimicking a hormone that regulates appetite and creates the feeling of fullness. These medications have many side effects, including nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, and more serious complications such as thyroid C-cell tumours, pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, acute kidney injury, increased heart rate, and suicidal behaviour or thinking.
