Kylie Allen-Kulyk, an Edinboro woman diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease causing muscle rigidity and spasms, is currently in remission after battling the debilitating symptoms for 13 years. She offers hope to Celine Dion, who recently announced her diagnosis of the same disease. Allen-Kulyk hopes to share her experience and encourage Dion to keep fighting, as many people care about her and are praying for her recovery. While there is no cure for stiff person syndrome, its symptoms can be treated. Allen-Kulyk underwent plasma replacement therapy and low-dose chemotherapy, which significantly improved her condition. She now lives independently, works part-time, and is grateful for the opportunity to experience life.
