Alabama Father and Son Make Oyster-House History on 80th Birthday

In Mobile, Alabama, 99-year-old Jim Rush and his 80-year-old son Jimmy Rush became the first to redeem Wintzell’s Oyster House’s decades-old offer of free oysters to any customer who turns 80 with his father. The milestone happened on Jimmy’s 80th birthday in a celebration attended by about 60 friends and family, continuing a Rush family tradition at the restaurant since 1972. The family plans to repeat the feat when brother Carl turns 80 in 2028, and Jim credits good health and blessings for his longevity.
