Neither of her parents recalls donating it, and the family remains puzzled by how the photo ended up on the thrift-floor. A sister's friend spotted the image and shared a TikTok video that sent the story viral; the portrait later vanished from the display, fueling theories that it was removed by staff or bought by a mysterious shopper. Ansley chose not to buy it, finding the whole episode more funny than creepy, and she’s glad the thrift store—an institution supporting HIV/AIDS communities—got a laugh out of it too.
